Good bye Heterocera, hello Nautilus!

Last night my last remaining parcel on Heterocera was sold. Since my move to Second Norway a few months ago, I’d only used the land in Triphosa for my small thrift store. It also served as a kind of a memento to a quarter sim that I used to own in the area. Eventually I decided to let it go. Fred, a good friend of mine, bought it and is now working on building a new train station there.

Duncan and I on the empty parcel, soon to be Fred’s train station

I haven’t given up on mainland, though. I still want a mainland place with access to a public road, where I can come back to after a road trip. I managed to find just one such location, on a continent I haven’t explored much so far – Nautilus, in a place called Odie. There I’ve just set up my petrol station and cafe, conveniently located right next to the public rezz zone.

The area is pleasant and surprisingly free of too much mainland clutter. And Route 12, judging by what I see on the world map, looks promising. I’m definitely looking forward to exploring it.

The place is still in need of some finishing touches, but if you need to fill your tank and grab a cup of coffee or a slice of home-made pie, you’re welcome to visit:

Final sale at Triphosa Bazaar

As I’ll be abandoning my last remaining mainland parcel in Triphosa on the east coast of Heterocera, the reseller store will go away too, at least on that location.

On that occasion, come to the final sale at Bazaar. It will remain open only until 1pm SLT, 1st June. It’s mostly gacha items made by quality creators, at significantly reduced prices. Here’s the SLurlhttp://tinyurl.com/hwweoa2

Bazaar in Triphosa

If you travel via SLRR along the east coast of Heterocera, you’ll pass by my last remaining mainland parcel in Triphosa. It used to be the location of my train station, then for a brief while a non-descript piece of land with nothing but pine trees rezzed on it – and a teleporter leading up to the small store I opened in an attic skybox.

Last night I did some reshuffling there: the store with select and discounted gacha items is back on the ground, now inside a Middle Eastern build. And for the first time in my SL life, I bought and rezzed some palms. The store is now a small oriental bazaar.

The building to the left will at some point become a way station, where weary travelers can stop by and have some refreshments – as soon as I have a few more prims available. Sadly, there isn’t much one can rezz on a 512sqm parcel… Still, there is a comfy bed in the upper room should you need to take a nap before catching the next train.

Triphosa Mercantile Society

Yesterday was the opening of the small store I set up in Triphosa. Initially it was supposed to be on the location of the former Norgaard Village train station – the last remaining parcel I’ve kept on Heterocera.

Everything was already in place when I suddenly decided to move everything up in a skybox, 3500m above the ground – an hour before the scheduled opening! It was a fast operation, and by 1pm SLT everything had been relocated to a cozy attic. Phew!

I’ve named the place TMS – Triphosa Mercantile Society. If you’re traveling by car or SLRR, you can access the store from the ground, by using the door which will teleport you to the place.

Or you can TP directly, by following this SLurl.

My friends and I will keep restocking with low-prim, low-cost items, and there’s a number of freebies, too. At the moment, we’ve got loads of food, some plants and furniture, wearable vehicles and more. Do visit when you can!

Most of old Norgaard Village sold

Greater part of my old land has been sold. I’ve just been there to take back my things and say good-bye.

Before

I kept putting it off, but now it had to be done. I keep telling myself it’s silly to be so attached to a piece of virtual land, but when I think of all the hours I spent working on that parcel over the past two years, it just feels sad.

After

The single only item I could neither take nor return was this piece of poop, rezzed by Duncan in the early days of Norgaard Village.

Not sure what the SL universe is trying to tell me…

P.S. Two parcels are still up for sale, on reduced prices (around 1L$/sqm). If you might be interested, please follow these links:

Heterocera Travelogue #15: Norgaard Village in Triphosa

Less than a week ago I made a momentous decision: to leave the place that has been my home for most of my inworld presence. So this will be a special travelogue, inviting you to a place that is soon bound to vanish.

Parcel in Triphosa on the east coast of Heterocera was the first piece of land I’ve ever owned in SL. It was a joy to work on it and develop it, learning a lot from my friend Duncan who was patiently helping me every step of the way. From humble beginnings, the place gradually evolved into Norgaard Village I have come to love so much.

I have so many nice memories about it, documented by hundreds of snapshots taken there and dozens of blog posts. Honestly, I thought I would stick with it for as long as I am in SL, but here we are. The parcels are set for sale now, and I’ve already moved all the essentials to my new home on an island in Second Norway, where the spirit of Norgaard Village will continue to live on.

Before the Village disappears, you can still visit. Teleporting to the train station (serving also as a radio station) would be a good starting point. From there, you can walk towards the ocean and the central part of the Village, found on a small island. Most of the objects have already been removed, but it was once the location of the library, the gym and the barber shop. The police station is still there for now.

Not far is the location of Refugium, the meditation space, next to the dock.

And the village church – irreverently turned into a bar.

On the opposite side of the land is a small silver mine and the historic elevator which will lead you up to the helipad and the air traffic control tower.

Here’s the aerial shot of most of the Village as it is at the moment. It occupies the entire coast of Triphosa on its northern side, and consists of a relatively narrow strip of land along the SLRR tracks on the south.

I’m dreading the moment when I have to remove the trees and the buildings (not to mention loads of my little tchotchkes), leaving behind nothing but barren land. As happy as I am about the move to Second Norway, at the same time I’m also terribly nostalgic.

One thing that might help soothe my pain is a quick sale (wink wink). If anyone is interested, here are the listings:
Northern parcel (5856 sqm)
Southern parcel (2336 sqm)
Please IM me for any additional questions.

As a final note, I’ll still be driving around Heterocera and the travelogues will continue, so stay tuned for the next one.

Lumberjack’s cottage

Up in the hills of Triphosa, behind the Norgaard Village train station, there’s a cozy lumberjack’s cottage. It’s one of the smallest builds on my land, but one that I’ve been enjoying the most this winter.

Although it has stopped snowing, there’s still some snow on the ground and it remains freezing cold. It’s nice to spend some time inside, warming up and having some quiet time.

It’s also nice to have wi-fi in here! I couldn’t function without it… How else would I blog from SL?

If you need some time-off, do come and visit. Here’s your taxi.

Norgaard Village parcels on sale

I’ve recently decided to scale down the amount of land I own on mainland, so at the moment portions of Norgaard Village are up for sale, as is the entire Refugium parcel.

All three land sales (with price info, SLurls and snapshots) are announced in SL Community listings:
Refugium
Farm
Chapel grounds
